In-Home Blessing

Feel free to create an environment within your home for this In-Home Blessing. Maybe have everyone stay at the dinner table a little longer one night or plan a big breakfast. You may even decide to do it over Sunday lunch. You can make it as creative or as simple as you would like but do think about the environment that it will take place within. It will help make this more of a memorable experience.

Make sure that everyone that you want to be a part of this celebration is there. Inform them and invite them. If they can't join in person then have them join in via FaceTime, Phone call, Zoom, Facebook Messenger, etc. Maybe you would like to include the most influential people that have been a part of their life. This could be a coach, teacher or a Youth Leader. Make this moment special for your student by inviting all of those who are special to your student to be a part.

Colossians chapter one reveals to us how the Apostle Paul spoke a blessing over the Colossians. Recognize how he both encourages and challenges them with the gospel. Take time to read Colossians 1:9-14 (ESV) as a family and as you do reflect on how Paul used the gospel to speak life into these people.

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Take turns speaking like in to your student. Go around in a circle, ask all of those present to affirm the  gifts that God has given to them and how they have seen him/her use these gifts to leave a lasting impact. Think of the  accomplishments they have made. (HINT: Think Past, Present & Future)

  • Begin to recount PAST memories and moments. Encourage them in how proud you are of them.

  • Begin celebrating PRESENT accomplishments and achievements and affirm the strengths you see in them now.

  • Begin to tell them about what you hope for them in their FUTURE.

Pray over them. Pray what you just spoke over them. Decide on someone in your circle to close in prayer.

We would love to know how this goes for you. We would love to celebrate with you! So please take a picture and email us at
